Join us on a riveting journey into the complexities of 'perspectives' and 'deteriorating systems' as we unravel the mystery of an abandoned school's fiery demise. Through student-written monologues, real-life interviews, and dynamic fight choreography, explore how stories morph through different lenses, while navigating themes of anxiety, depression, violence, and resilience.
Devised by Rider University students and faculty, THE FIRE is a world premiere production that investigates the theme of "perspective," while taking an in-depth look at the United States education system. Set in a fictional small town, the story follows a cast of characters as they try to solve a mystery about who burned down an abandoned school. Combining verbatim text from real-life interviews, improvisation, and movement, this collaborative piece will explore the nature of an organizational system, examine how it affects different members of a community, and consider what happens when it becomes too complicated to change.
