This year’s event, ‘Caesar's MAACness,’ has a Roman empire theme
by Rider Sports Information
The Alumni Gymnasium will once again be the site of Midnight MAACness as the Rider community celebrates the opening of the 2014-15 men's and women's basketball seasons. With a Roman empire theme as part of this year's program, "Caesar's MAACness" is certain to provide great entertainment as it has become one of the University's biggest traditions over the years.
Scheduled for Friday, Oct. 10, the festivities begin at 8:30 p.m. on the Campus Mall in front of Alumni Gym with various food trucks lined up along the roadway giving away a multitude of edible items to satisfy every palate.
Doors to Alumni Gym open at 9:45 p.m. and Caesar's MAACness is scheduled to begin at 10:15 p.m. The program will include performances by the Bronc, cheerleaders and dance team, a 2013-14 highlight video, introduction of the men's and women's basketball teams, a slam dunk contest by the men's team and much more.
Sponsored by Athletics, the Office of Campus Life, SEC, SGA, ACS and the Emerging Leaders and partially funded by SAF, Midnight MAACness is open to Rider undergraduate students ONLY and is not open to the general public. A valid Rider undergraduate ID and Midnight MAACness ticket are required for entrance to Alumni Gym. Tickets will be available from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 10, in the lobby of Alumni Gym.
"Midnight MAACness has grown over the years and has turned into a spectacular way for the student body to show their Rider school spirit and pride while supporting the men's and women's basketball teams," says Associate Director of Athletics/Senior Women's Administrator KarinTorchia. "We used to invite the general public, but MAACness has gotten so popular that we had to implement a ticket policya few years ago and now we have to limit the event strictly to undergraduate Rider students on both of our campuses."
The entire Midnight MAACness program will be streamed live and free of charge via the Rider Athletics website (gobroncs.com) and BroncVision starting at 10:15 p.m. The entire stream will also be available on demand for viewing at a later time. Live tweets from the event will also be posted on @RiderAthletics, the official Twitter account of the Broncs. Photos will also be posted on our Instagram account via @RiderAthletics.
