Rider University has been recognized as one of the top four-year universities in the country for supporting community college transfer by the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. The national honor society named Rider to its Transfer Honor Roll because the University offers exemplary programs, initiatives and benefits to community college students who transfer to the University. Rider and the other colleges and universities named to the Transfer Honor Roll will be recognized at Phi Theta Kappa’s PTK Catalyst 2017 convention at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, Tenn., on April 6. “We are thrilled to accept this honor from the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society,” said Rider's Senior Assistant Director of Transfer Admission Shannon R. Conte. “The enrollment team at Rider University has always been dedicated to working hand in hand with our world-class faculty to meet the unique needs of transfer students. Their perspectives help make our student body a diverse, passionate and successful one.” Winners of the Transfer Honor Roll were selected based on engagement, collaboration, impact and achievements related to the transfer of community college students as well as partnerships, support, admissions outreach, scholarships and financial aid, student engagement opportunities and institutional priorities. “Increasingly, students of all ages and achievement levels are choosing community college in the pursuit of a quality, affordable bachelor’s degree,” said Phi Theta Kappa's CEO, Dr. Lynn Tincher-Ladner. “With this designation, we hope to connect community college students with institutions who value their unique transfer experience and prioritize their success.” Rider has formal transfer partnerships with several area community colleges: Brookdale Community College, Bucks County College, Rowan College at Burlington County, Mercer County Community College, Middlesex County College and Raritan Valley Community College. Rider also maintains close ties with other local community college institutions, offers detailed requirements on the transfer of class credits, and regularly hosts events such as Open Houses and Transfer Tuesdays to help new students adjust to and flourish at Rider.
