Theme focuses on how the best college teachers facilitate deep learning
Dr. Ken Bain, the author of What the Best College Teachers Do and What the Best College Students Do, will be the keynote speaker for May Faculty Development Day 2016. Using evidence from his research on faculty and students, Bain’s books challenge us to examine our aspirations and practices as teachers with provocative conclusions and implications.
Bain’s description of the “best” teachers includes this observation …” they were learners, constantly trying to improve their own efforts to foster students development, and never completely satisfied with what they had already achieved” (Bain 2004, p. 20). In the spirit of continual improvement, please join us by sharing your teaching journey with your colleagues on campus.
May Faculty Development Day will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2016, and this year’s theme will focus on how the best college teachers facilitate deep learning. Please consider proposing a session if . . .
