Contest held by 107.7 The Bronc will determine winner of 2016 Toyota Scion iM
by Alexa Caplinger '15
After the graduates have finished their walk across the commencement stage, one will also be driving away in a new car.
107.7 The Bronc is holding a contest for students who are eligible to walk at commencement in May. The winner will receive a two-year lease on a 2016 Scion iM, courtesy of Team Toyota of Princeton.
John Mozes, general manager of 107.7 The Bronc, says, “This is an exciting opportunity for our seniors and the university to make commencement even more special for the students, families, faculty, staff and everyone involved.”
Students can view the Scion iM at the Senior Ball on April 1 and then it will be moved indoors for Relay for Life on April 2-3. Students will be encouraged to take a picture with the car, using #RoadtoRecovery, to raise money for the cause. From April 4 to 8, the car will be on display on the Westminster campus, and then return back to Lawrenceville on April 9 until commencement. The car will also travel to events such as the Senior BBQ, Spring Fling and more.
Rider seniors may enter 107.7 The Bronc's #TeamRiderScionContest from April 4 to May 1 by creating and submitting a video about their Rider experience to 1077thebronc.com. Each video should be no longer than two minutes and include at least one of the following experiences they have had students: student/faculty collaboration or mentorship, development as a leader, involvement in the Rider community, internship and professional experiences, the arts at Rider, global and cultural experiences, and/or community service and service learning.
Students will be evaluated by a qualified panel of judges based on the ability to portray one or more Rider experience, positivity and emotion of that experience, clarity of message, audience appeal, entertainment quality, and story-telling capabilities.
Ten finalists will be notified the week of commencement and given keys to try to start the car following commencement. The submission with the highest score will receive the right key, but no one will know who until they attempt to start the car.
Team Toyota of Princeton has personal ties to Rider. The owner, his wife and their four children have all attended Rider. Douglas P. Scott, the director of marketing for Team Toyota, has been working alongside Mozes to make this giveaway happen. Both Mozes and Scott want to make the giveaway an annual event.
On April 12, students will also be able to test drive the Scion iM. These #Testdrivetuesdays will allow students the opportunity to drive the vehicle — and other Toyota vehicles—on campus.
“It’s just another nuance to add to the overall educational and social experience for students,” says Mozes. “It’s also a neat way to add on to the excitement of commencement.”
