Lawrenceville Commencement traffic advisory May 12 and 13

Commencement will be held on the Lawrenceville campus on Thursday evening, May 12, 2016, for all graduate and CCS students. The undergraduate Commencement ceremony will be held on Friday morning, May 13, 2016. There will be a large number of visitors and vehicle traffic on both days as a result. Below is information and traffic guidelines for both Commencement ceremonies on the Lawrenceville campus. We appreciate your cooperation as we implement the following traffic guidelines each day:

Thursday, May 12, 2016: Graduate and CCS Commencement

• The procession begins at 5 p.m. with graduates and their families expected to arrive as early as 3 p.m.  The ceremony should end between 6 and 6:30 p.m.
   
• The main and south entrance gates will be closed to incoming traffic from 6 to 9 p.m. 
   
• The main exit gate will be closed to outgoing traffic from 5:30 to 9 p.m.  Lawrence Township Police will direct traffic onto Route 206 from the south gate only beginning at 5:30 p.m. Motorists exiting campus around that time should expect delays.
   
• Beginning at 5 p.m., all campus roadways surrounding Centennial Lake will be one-way. Public Safety officers will direct all traffic counter-clockwise around the lake to the south gate.
   
• Faculty and staff who will need to use their vehicles later that afternoon are asked to please plan ahead to provide for extra time exiting campus. The Adath Israel Congregation lot, located on the northbound side of Route 206 near the south gate, will be available for parking on both Thursday, May 12 and Friday, May 13.
   
• Departments conducting normal business should NOT schedule appointments or deliveries after 4 p.m.  
   
• Departments or organizations hosting on-campus receptions following Commencement must have the food picked up or delivered before 4 p.m.  
   
• Normal campus traffic procedures should be restored at 9 p.m.

Friday, May 13, 2016: Undergraduate Commencement

• The procession begins at 9:30 a.m. with graduates and their families expected to arrive as early as 7 a.m.  The ceremony should end between 11 and 11:30 a.m.
   
• The main exit gate will be closed to outgoing traffic from 8:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. 
   
• The main and south entrance gates will be closed to incoming traffic from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. 
   
• Beginning at 9:30 a.m., all campus roadways surrounding Centennial Lake will be one-way.  Public Safety officers will direct all traffic counter-clockwise around the lake to the south gate.
   
• Once the ceremony is ended, Lawrence Township Police will direct traffic onto Route 206 from the south gate only. Motorists exiting campus within one hour following the end of Commencement should expect delays.
   
• Faculty and staff who will need to use their vehicles during the day are asked to park in Adath Israel Temple lot, located on the northbound side of Route 206 near the south gate. Otherwise, please park where you would normally.
   
• Departments conducting normal business should schedule appointments or deliveries after 2:30 p.m.  
   
• Departments or organizations hosting on-campus luncheons or receptions must have the food picked up or delivered before 10:30 a.m.  
   
• Normal campus traffic procedures should be restored at 2:30 p.m.
