Rider University’s theater program will present The Last Days of Judas Iscariot February 17 through February 26 in the Yvonne Theater on the Rider University campus in Lawrenceville.
Preview performances are Thursday, February 17 and Friday, February 18 at 7 p.m. Performances are Saturday, February 19 at 8 p.m.; Friday, February 25 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, February 26 at 8 p.m.
The play asks the question “Are there some acts so heinous as to never warrant forgiveness?” Set in purgatory and the trial of the millennium, The Last Days of Judas Iscariot features a cast of characters that include Sigmund Freud, Satan and Mother Teresa. Due to language and violence, this performance is for mature audiences only.
Written by Stephen Adly Guirgis, this brilliant and controversial comedy is directed by Miriam Mills. A member of the Rider University faculty, Ms. Mills has directed more than 100 shows nationally, including productions of Extremities, The Pillowman, Rent and Sweet Charity. She has also taught at Mason Gross, The College of New Jersey and Mercer County Community College. In 2009 she received the Kennedy Center ACTF Meritorious Directing award for excellence in directing for her production of The Pillowman. She is active in the Association for Theater in Higher Education and has professionally stage-managed for many well-known celebrities. Her New York acting credits include leads in such productions as Romeo and Juliet, Hot’l Baltimore and Company.
Admission to preview performances is $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors, and tickets are available only at the door beginning at 6 p.m. Admission to regular performances is $20 for adults and $10 for students and seniors.
