By participating in this ensemble, the students not only learn an instrument, they also gain some insight into Chinese culture and history.
The Music from China Youth Orchestra has brought the best of Chinese music - ancient, folk and contemporary – to audiences in the New York area and beyond since 1984. Founded by Director Susan Cheng and Artistic Director Wang Guowei, the ensemble has carved a unique place in the music world by playing not only the traditional repertoire, but creating and presenting new work by established and emerging composers
