Westminster Choir College of Rider University awarded Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees to 135 students at the College’s 84th Commencement on Friday, May 17. Held in the Princeton University Chapel, the ceremony included performances by all of the Choir College’s students, the Solid Brass ensemble and organ faculty member Alan Morrison.
Bass Paul Plishka delivered the Commencement address. “You should be very proud of your achievement today, but don't forget those who helped make it possible,” he said. “Be sure to make them proud of their part in your success, and be sure that you become the "air under someone else's wings." An honorary Doctor of Music was awarded to Mr. Plishka in recognition of his long and successful career with the Metropolitan Opera and other leading opera companies throughout the world.
Professor James Jordan delivered an inspiring Charge to the Graduating Classes, urging the graduates to “remember this community…remember what it felt like in the good times to be together and to make music with one another.” Download a PDF of James Jordan's Charge.
