by Anne Sears
The Westminster Community Chorus is scheduling auditions for its 2013-2014 season. Based at Westminster Conservatory, the community music school of Rider University’s Westminster College of the Arts, the Westminster Community Chorus is composed of high-school age and adult amateur singers. Conducted by Devin Mariman, the ensemble rehearses on Tuesday from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Westminster Choir College in Princeton beginning Tuesday, September 10.
This year’s performances include Christmas pops concerts on Friday December 20 and Saturday, December 21 at Westminster Choir College. Local jazz pianist Philip Orr will join the chorus to perform contemporary Christmas classics, such as White Christmas and Winter Wonderland, as well as traditional carols arranged in a popular/jazz style.
Saturday, June 7, the Westminster Community Chorus will join the Westminster Community Orchestra, conducted by Ruth Ochs, to perform Johannes Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem (A German Requiem) at Princeton Meadow Church and Event Center in West Windsor.
There are openings for all voice parts in the chorus. To learn more or to schedule an audition, please call Westminster Conservatory at 609-921-7104.
