Students hand-deliver resumes to nationally ranked and state-leading organizations
by Robert Leitner ’17
Rider University’s 2018 spring career fairs gathered over 150 employee-seeking organizations for students and alumni who were looking to network and make connections that could possibly lead to future employment.
On Feb. 22, Rider’s Spring Career Fair filled the Student Recreation Center with 102 employers looking for current students and graduates to join their organizations. Upwards of 280 students and alumni dressed in business professional attire filed into the SRC for a chance to hand out resumes and make connections with many well-known organizations during the three-hour-long event.
Among the array of employers were Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, a multinational company offering the world’s largest range of consumer healthcare products, KPMG, one of the industry’s big four public accounting firms, and RWJ Barnabas Health, New Jersey’s largest integrated health care system.
The College of Education Career Fair was held on March 1 in the SRC. This six-hour-long event attracted 65 employers who interacted with the 90 education students who attended. Employers at the event included plenty of public and charter schools, as well as Huntington Learning Center, Hamilton YMCA and other youth educational organizations.
Career fairs offer students and recent graduates opportunities to meet face-to-face with actively-hiring employers. These opportunities allow students and alumni to network with employers, familiarize themselves with opportunities and even land an interview for a job or internship.
These kinds of opportunities contribute to the impressive career success of Rider students and graduates. Within six months of graduating, 98% of Rider graduates are either employed, pursuing graduate studies, serving in the military or involved in a volunteer position.
