Camp Rider Reunions takes place June 9
Alumni will check into Camp Rider for this year's Lawrenceville Reunions on June 9. Among the summer-camp-themed activities, here are five events you don't want to miss:
Alumni picnic
Reminisce with old friends while enjoying all the summer cookout staples — hot dogs, hamburgers and potato salad. The annual Cranberry Baking Contest will test participants' culinary skills as they unveil their best dessert featuring Rider's favorite flavor.
Alumni can take a spin on a 15-seat PedalCycle or one of Rider's cruiser bikes, play lawn games such as croquet and jumbo checkers and strike a pose in the photo booth. A silent auction will also take place featuring branded Rider bicycles, Giants vs. Eagles tickets, baskets with gift cards to local businesses and restaurants, and more.
The Alumni Picnic takes place on the Campus Mall from noon-2 p.m. $20 per person (cash bar). The bar will stay open and yard games will continue from 2-3:30 p.m.
Alumni awards ceremony
Camp Rider won't be giving out merit badges, but it will honor prominent alumni during the Alumni Awards and Science Stairway of Fame Induction ceremonies. Alumni will be recognized for their contributions to leadership, volunteerism, their field, engaged learning and science.
Honorees will be recognized from 2-3:30 p.m. in North Hall, Room 202.
Ballroom dance lesson
Feel like you're on Dancing with the Stars as you learn the difference between the cha cha, salsa and foxtrot. A professional instructor will lead you and your partner through a basic ballroom dance lesson. Single participants will be matched up with a partner so everyone can have the time of their life dancing the night away.
The lesson takes place from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in the Cavalla Room, Bart Luedeke Center.
Paint and sip party
Arts and crafts has a grown-up twist with the paint and sip party. Instructors will teach you how to paint a summertime scene on canvas, as you enjoy your favorite drink.
The party is $20 per person and includes all paint supplies and drinks from 5:30-7 p.m. in the Cavalla Room, Bart Luedeke Center.
Ghost stories and s'mores by the fire
Camp wouldn't be complete without toasted marshmallows and scary stories! Gather around the campfire to hear terrifying tales from a professional storyteller. Stories and s'mores will be held from 9-10 p.m. on the Campus Mall.
