Enjoy food, friends, family and more
Last year, hundreds of Rider alumni, students, faculty and staff came out for the revival of Homecoming at Rider. The annual event continues this year on Oct. 27 on the Lawrenceville campus, with plenty of food, friends and family.
This year's schedule of events begins at 9 a.m. and continues well past midnight. If you're thinking of joining the festivities, note these special offerings:
EOP 50th Anniversary Dinner/Dance
Cavalla Room, Bart Luedeke Center
5-9:30 p.m., $40
This year, the Educational Opportunity Program turns 50. To celebrate, this event includes a cocktail hour, dinner, award program, and music from an alumni band, Sounds of Sandstorm. Bring your dancing shoes!
AJ's Tailgate Lunch with Beer/Wine Tastings
U lot (between the soccer field and tennis courts)
11:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., $10-$25
At some point during AJ's Tailgate Lunch, attendees will have to decide if they want to get inside and roll around campus in a human-sized hamster ball. That might not even be the hardest decision to make. There will be wine available from Hopewell Valley Vineyards and beer from River Horse Brewing Company to accompany some delicious food, not to mention yard games, pumpkin painting and more.
Men's Soccer Game vs. Siena
Ben Cohen Turf Field
1-2:30 p.m., free
The Broncs have played in three-straight MAAC championship games, winning two of them, and the team was selected during the pre-season this year to finish second. Is the team headed for its fourth appearance in the league title game in as many years? Get a taste of their winning formula during this special Homecoming game. If you are an alumnus/na of the soccer program, make sure to register for the game — all soccer alumni will be recognized during half-time.
Engaged Learning Showcase
Cavalla Room, Bart Luedeke Center
10-11:30 a.m., free
This year's freshman class is the second to experience Rider's fully implemented Engaged Learning Program. The program is envisioned as the new cornerstone of a Rider education — the unifying thread that connects every part of living and learning at the University. During this inaugural showcase, a panel of administrators and faculty will explain what Engaged Learning is and what it means for students, faculty and the University as a whole.
Faculty/Staff Retirement Celebration
Kaplan Plaza
3-5 p.m., free
Rider's faculty and staff are what help make the University such a special place for students to discover their passions and pursue their dreams. This afternoon reception, under a big, white tent on Kaplan Plaza, will celebrate your favorite professors and administrators who are retiring. Come say hello!
