Dear Rider Community,
On Friday, Feb. 7, Rider hosted Prelude, a half-day event for Westminster Choir College. The event was designed to introduce Westminster Choir College students to the vibrant living and learning community on the Lawrenceville campus ahead of the upcoming fall semester when the two campuses will be fully integrated.
The afternoon included tours of the Lawrenceville campus, including academic buildings and residence halls; a fair about student organizations and campus support resources; and interaction with student leaders on the Lawrenceville campus. Small groups were facilitated by jointly trained Orientation leaders from both campuses. Afternoon classes on the Princeton campus were canceled, enabling all interested Westminster Choir College students to attend.
Prelude was planned by the Student Affairs Campus Transition Working Group as part of its larger efforts to ensure that Westminster Choir College students are prepared for, and warmly welcomed into, student life on the Lawrenceville campus. While much work has been done to provide a learning environment that meets the expectations and needs of Westminster students, we know it’s equally important they are supported outside of the classroom. Prelude was an important event for them to gain a deeper understanding of student life on the Lawrenceville campus and the many opportunities it offers.
While students from the Princeton campus are always welcome to attend events on the Lawrenceville campus, specific plans have been made to encourage greater participation in a few additional events during the spring semester, for which extended transportation options will be available to accommodate travel. These events include Relay for Life on March 28 and Rider Rock Fest on April 24. Students can expect more detailed information soon. As always, we look forward to hosting these events for the Rider community.
Sincerely,
DonnaJean Fredeen, Ph.D.
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
