Joe Forte '13 named to inaugural 'ROI-NJ' list
Joe Forte '13 was named to ROI-NJ's inaugural list of Leading Figures in New Jersey's LGBTQ+ Community. More than three dozen LGBTQ+ individuals were recognized for having a significant impact in the business sector and political world.
"Being honored on the inaugural ROI-NJ list of Leading Figures in New Jersey's LGBTQ+ Community is a testament to the importance of representation and advocacy," Forte says. "Rider University provided me with the knowledge, skills and support necessary to make meaningful contributions to the LGBTQ+ community. I am grateful for the education and experiences that prepared me to lead and drive positive change in New Jersey."
Forte has more than a decade of experience in senior leadership roles, currently serving as the deputy chief of staff and chief diversity officer for the New Jersey Department of State. In this role, he leads the communications team, Business Action Center and the Cultural Trust, overseeing a diverse range of initiatives and programs.
He has been an active participant in political campaigns and community organizations, contributing significantly to the advancement of LGBTQ+ rights and diversity initiatives. He is the vice-chair of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee's LGBTQ+ Caucus. In 2020, he served as co-chair for New Jersey's Presidential Day of Service event and co-chair of LGBTQ for Biden NJ. He recently had the honor of attending the White House's largest Pride event ever on June 10, hosted by President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden.
Forte earned his bachelor's in global studies from Rider. He also earned a Master of Public Administration and a certificate in strategic communications from Rutgers University, as well as a Master of Science in International Affairs from Northeastern University.
