Dear Rider community,
Like so many of you, I have missed the energy of being together on campus, both inside and outside of the classrooms, labs, lecture halls and studios. I’ve missed the spontaneous encounters walking across the campus, having a meal in the dining halls or grabbing a coffee at Starbucks. I’ve missed cheering on the Broncs from the stands and attending the many student theatrical and musical performances. This fall, all of this returns, and no one is more excited about it than me.
A lot has changed since the last time we welcomed students back to campus for the full Rider experience — where any and all students could live on campus and dedicate their full spirit to learning, growing and changing.
Recalling this time last year, I have to say I am still amazed at how adaptable we have been — how we embraced new situations and found ways to thrive in them.
But what has impressed me the most is what has not changed — and what perhaps never changes.
Thinking about what we all share at Rider, I can recall countless experiences I’ve had or stories I’ve been told about students, faculty, staff and alumni who went above and beyond — who dug a little deeper than they were asked to dig — who gave a little more than they were asked to give — just so they can make a difference to this university. Just so they can make a difference to the people who have invested themselves in this institution.
That sense of community — that sense of purpose and drive to make Rider an even better place to live, learn and work — those are things that never change. I’m humbled and thrilled beyond words to experience our sense of community on campus and in person this fall, together once again.
I also want to say how proud I am of all the new students who have found their way to Rider and are beginning their life-changing journey in Lawrenceville, as well as the returning students who continue to pursue their dreams. I particularly want to acknowledge those students who have patiently waited a full year to become residents or take part in in-person classes.
To all of our students, I assure you that the people surrounding you — your professors, the administrative staff and everyone in between — we are all dedicated to your success. Supporting your ambition is our ambition. Helping you achieve your dream is our dream. We are united in our focus to serve you today, tomorrow and well into the future.
I wish all of you a wonderful semester. Please stay safe, be smart and lean into all of the wonderful opportunities at your fingertips at Rider University.
Go Broncs!
