Kaylee Ettinger ’22 recognized for Outstanding Technical Team Studio achievement at FOX Sports
by Tatiana Sciancalepore
On the day before her graduation from Rider University, Kaylee Ettinger ’22 was offered a life-changing opportunity to join the Creative Services department at FOX Sports in Los Angeles. Today, just a little over a year later, she is the winner of a Sports Emmy Award in the Outstanding Technical Team Studio category for her work on the network’s 2022 FIFA World Cup programming.
As a FOX Sports graphics help desk team member, Ettinger collaborates with producers to create intricate graphics and augmented reality features for the network’s sports broadcasts. Her work enhances the program for viewers and contributes to a visually captivating broadcast experience. She also serves as the social events co-chair for the Women of FOX Sports board.
During her time at Rider, Ettinger pursued a major in film and television alongside a minor in event planning and production. While she always knew she wanted to work in the media industry, it was her involvement with BroncVision, Athletics’ event production team, that ignited her passion for the fast-paced realm of sports media.
“I joined BroncVision my freshman year,” she says. “One day, the graphics operator position opened up, and my boss asked me to give it a shot. That's how I learned about graphics for broadcasting, and I’ve been doing it ever since.”
The BroncVision team is responsible for live-streaming Rider's sporting events, crafting captivating video packages using state-of-the-art equipment. “I’m so grateful to have had that hands-on experience,” she says.
During her senior year, Ettinger took part in Rider’s Semester in Los Angeles program, an opportunity that offers Rider students a chance to spend 14 weeks living and learning in the city while earning academic credit. Now, as a member of the FOX Sports team, she seized the opportunity to give back to her fellow Broncs by guiding last year’s program participants on an exclusive tour of FOX studios.
With this prestigious award, Ettinger adds her name to the extensive roster of Rider alumni who have achieved Emmy success. Among them are Katie Rust Landry ’16, who won an Emmy from the Ohio Valley Chapter for her work with WAVE 3 News; Josh Veltrie ’11, a senior associate producer at NBC Sports with eight Sports Emmys; and Will Reed ’08, a senior broadcast writer and producer at FOX with seven regional Emmys.
Several Rider alumni are also nominated for Emmy Awards this year, including Jave Galt-Miller ’07 for his role as a segment producer on Freevee’s Judy Justice and Mary-Lyn Buckley ’18 for her work on the News 12 segment "State of Our Schools: Keeping Kids Safe." Pix 11 reporter Jim Vasil ’14 received his sixth career Emmy nomination for his work on the network’s Destination New Jersey program, contributing to his already impressive two Emmy wins in the past.
