Sept. 1, 2022, letter from the Rider University Collective Bargaining Team to faculty and staff
Dear Colleagues,
The current AAUP contract was set to expire today at 12:00 a.m. The parties have been at the bargaining table for many hours this week, having made modest progress on a number of issues. The outstanding issues remain almost entirely economic in nature.
The administration has pushed from the beginning of negotiations to achieve an agreement by August 31. However, an agreement was not achieved by midnight. Therefore, the administration and AAUP have mutually agreed to a two-day extension of the current contract to expire at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, September 2, 2022.
The terms of the current contract will remain in force during the extension. The parties have agreed to reconvene for an additional bargaining session on Friday.
The administration remains steadfast in its position that Rider must make immediate and fundamental changes to its instructional model to sustain the institution. Short- and long-term changes to our faculty contract will position Rider to achieve financial stability while still providing bargaining unit members competitive terms of employment.
This remains our goal and we are hopeful the parties can reach agreement by the conclusion of the contract extension.
Sincerely,
The Rider University Collective Bargaining Team
