Dear Rider Community,
We are writing with an update to our fall plan. As you are aware from our Resolved and Ready website, Rider University is approaching the fall semester with a plan to deliver a mix of fully on-ground, hybrid and fully remote courses. Today we are providing you with details about how you can view your fall courses and learn how to request changes to your current schedule.
There is also information in this email regarding pending updates to student housing, student technology expectations and mandatory quarantines enforced by the state of NJ, so please read this message in its entirety. We also ask that you remember that NJ is still in Stage Two of re-opening, so all of these details are pending moving into Stage Three by Governor Murphy.
The Enhanced Course Roster (ECR) has been updated to reflect the modalities for each course. Please use the ECR and myRider to review how each of the classes on your schedule will be offered (fully in-person, hybrid, or fully remote). New students should log into the New Student Orientation course in Canvas to connect with an Orientation Leader who can show you how to view your updated schedule via the ECR and myRider.
We understand that you may have a compelling need to switch a course or two to a different modality. To make these changes, please adhere to the following guidelines:
- For classes where there are open seats: changes may be made directly through myRider.
- For classes that are closed: modality-based changes may be requested using the Modality Change Request form. Requests will be approved where possible, within federal and state safety guidelines.
- New students: We strongly recommend that new students use the Modality Change Request form and discuss any requested changes with your College's Academic Coordinator when you meet with them this summer.
All remote courses will require students to have access to a personal computer equipped with a webcam and microphone and access to a high-speed internet service provider. For assistance with technology needs, please visit the Rider University OIT website.
We expect to announce significant changes to residential housing for the fall semester later today. We strongly recommend that you wait for further guidance on housing to make final changes to your academic schedule.
Rider has an obligation to uphold COVID-related travel advisories. International students and students originating from the domestic states that fall under the New Jersey advisory will be required to self-quarantine for a 14-day period prior to engaging in community on campus. Additional information will be shared shortly to aid in the planning for students who are impacted.
Questions and concerns regarding our fall plan can be directed to [email protected].
We hope you enjoy the rest of your summer and don't forget that Fall classes start August 31st.
Sincerely,
Gregory G. Dell’Omo, Ph.D.
