Congratulations to Westminster Choir College alumni Philip Hayden ’74 and Ellen Gilson Voth MM ’97, winners of Ithaca College School of Music’s 42nd annual Robert Campbell Endowed Choral Composition Prize. Hayden was recognized for his composition, The Grass, with text by Carl Sandburg. Voth won for her setting of the Emily Dickinson poem I Had No Time for Hate.
Ithaca College has encouraged the creation of new choral music for over three decades. All compositions in this annual competition are intended to be accessible to competent high school choirs. The winners’ work is reviewed for possible publication by Mark Foster Music, a division of Hal Leonard.
