Schein-Becker named 2024 Most Outstanding Track Performer

For the second consecutive year, the Rider University women's track and field team won the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Rider finished the weekend with 227 points.
Having earned three gold medals, graduate student Teagan Schein-Becker was named Most Outstanding Track Performer for the second year in a row. Head Coach Bob Hamer was named MAAC Coach of the Year. This was also the second year that both the women's and men's team won both the MAAC indoor and outdoor titles.
"It was a total team effort across the board that contributed to the team wins," says Hamer. "I am proud of the time, effort and the energy that the athletes put into the success of the team. We are very lucky to have the opportunity to win both titles again."
On Saturday, junior Mariah Stephens won gold in the triple jump with a mark of 11.75 and the 100-meter with a time of 12.33. She also earned silver in the 4x100-meter and the 100-meter hurdles. In the high jump, junior Savanna Marcantonio earned gold in a jump off with a mark of 1.62. In the shot put, graduate student Natya Glasco earned gold with a mark of 13.33, senior Samantha Kamara earned silver with a mark of 13.02 and junior Chika Efobi earned bronze with a mark of 12.79.
Teagan Schein-Becker took gold in the 800-meter with a time of 2:11.36, while junior Krisantha Spencer took bronze with a time of 2:17.03.
The Broncs also took three medals in the relays. The 4x800-meter team of freshman Tatiana Nunez, Spencer, Schein-Becker and junior Lydia Wallace took gold with a time of 9:12.28, while the 4x100-meter team of Stephens, junior Rasia Thunig, junior Hailey Palmer and freshman Jianna Fairfax Wheeler took silver with a time of 47.68.
