College of Arts and Sciences,Westminster Choir College
A Dual Degree
Because of her academic excellence, Jess was invited to take part in Westminster's Dual Degree program and complete both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Music Education in five years.
A Global Education
Jess's collegiate experiences included studying at the Choral Institute at Oxford University in England and presenting research in California which was later published.
An Aspiring Educator
Jess will effectively use her degree to not only teach music, but to inspire future musicians like her teachers did for her while growing up.
Jess knew that Westminster Choir College would provide her with opportunities unlike anywhere else. The unique experiences and esteemed faculty drew Jess towards Westminster. She would receive an outstanding education from professors who could provide her with the skills and knowledge to excel in her field whilst taking part in opportunities that increased her professional experience and enhanced her education.
Who else can say that they sang with the New York Philharmonic and the Philadelphia Orchestra in the span of one week!

Westminster's impact on Jess's career
Jess was one of several students selected in her sophomore year to serve as research fellows and investigate ways that music lessons might align with Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) curriculum. "The fellowship was a fantastic opportunity for me to conduct my own research on project-based learning in music while also contributing to a larger research project on which I got to work with my friends". With the fellows, Jess was invited to present her research at the Science Education for New Civic Engagement and Responsibility (SENCER) Summer Institute in California. This work is now published in the book Aligning Music to STEM: Theory and Practice for Middle School General Music.
Continued success
Jess was invited to participate in Westminster's B.M. in Music Education/Master of Music Education (BM/MME) program. Through this program, Jess will graduate in May with both her Bachelor's and Master's degree. After graduation, she hopes to secure a position teaching middle school music. Her own middle school experience was made memorable by her music teacher, which inspired Jess to follow that same path. "I want to be that teacher for someone else." With her Rider education and experiences, Jess will continue the line of memorable music teacher sand inspire her own students to explore their artistry and follow their dreams.
