Nick chose Rider because he was able to get hands-on experience right from the start of his academic career as a broadcast journalism student. In fact, during his freshman year, Nick had the opportunity to produce and host his own television show, On the Issues, on the Rider University Network. During his college years, Nick sharpened his interview skills by going out in the field to interview influential political figures such as President Bill Clinton, Sen. John McCain and Sen. John Kerry for his campus television show. These experiences prepared him for the reporting he does today on Capitol Hill.
At Rider, you don’t have to wait. Opportunities are available to everyone. It just depends on individual drive, individual goals and just how serious you are.
Rider's convenient location between New York and Philadelphia made it easy for Nick to intern at ABC News in New York. In addition, his experience at the Fund for American Studies Institute on Political Journalism in Washington D.C., introduced and familiarized him with the inner-workings of the D.C. press, preparing him for his political journalism career. “Dr. Rusciano, professor of Political Science, told me about the program, which allowed students to take classes at Georgetown University while interning in communications. It's a highly competitive program, and I was chosen from a field of many qualified applicants to intern at CNN's White House Unit, a true testimonial to Rider’s communication program,” Nick said. “As a result of this experience, immediately after I graduated from Rider, I gained employment as a reporter on Capitol Hill for CNS News,” he added, “and that eventually led to my current position at The Daily Caller.”
As a result of his experience interning at CNN’s White House Unit, Nick was offered a job as a reporter on Capitol Hill for CNS News, which eventually led to his current position as The Daily Caller's senior video reporter where he covers Capitol Hill.
