Nick has maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout his time at Rider.
Why Nick chose Rider
Nick first visited Rider when he was a junior in high school. “It was the only university that I visited where I felt that my tour guide was truly engaging, and I made a mental note that, if everyone at the school was like them, I’d have a pretty good time attending,” says Nick. During that same summer before senior year of high school, he attended the American Legion Jersey Boys State, which was hosted on the Rider campus. It was during this program that he decided to apply to Rider. As a student in high school, he knew that he wanted to study business. “I knew that Rider had a great AACSB accredited business school, so that was certainly an important factor in my decision making process.” The most critical part of his decision to apply was that all of the people he met were pleasant. “I found that all the students and faculty I spoke with were genuinely invested in my success, and that they were interesting people, too.” When Nick applied to Rider, he was selected as a Trustee Scholar, which granted him full tuition for four years.

Rider's impact on Nick's success
When Nick came to Rider, he looked for organizations and opportunities that would help him discover his career path and increase his professional growth. He joined DAARSTOC (Rider’s executive skill-building organization.) “[DAARSTOC] has been the driving force between much of my personal development… DAARSTOC has also helped me to further develop my communication and my people skills. Nick believes that due to his membership in this organization, he will find success regardless of the direction his career takes. Beyond DAARSTOC, he has the support of “a great faculty [that includes] the professors and the team at Rider’s Center for Career Development and Success.” At Rider, he also has been a member of the Finance Society, Accounting Society, Beta Gamma Sigma, and the Entrepreneurship Club. In his role with the Finance Society, first as secretary and then as president, he helped to increase the frequency of events from two or three a semester to one alumni guest speaker per week. He also had the opportunity to compete in the Collegiate Business Concept Competition during his freshman year and was selected as a top-five finalist. Due to Nick’s experiences at Rider, he also was able to intern at a criminal defense law firm which helped him to further develop his writing ability and critical thinking skills. On-campus, he also worked as a tour guide where he was able to work on his public speaking.
Continued success
After Nick graduates in May 2021, he will start a full-time position with Johnson & Johnson’s Finance Leadership Development Program as an Associate Financial Analyst. “FLDP is a two and a half year rotational program, so I’ll get exposure to different subsidiaries and departments within J&J.” His first rotation will be at the Titusville location within the Center of Excellence as a member of the Global Functions team supporting supply chain, commercial, and research and development. Nick is most proud of his academic success because he has maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout his studies at Rider. As a result of this work, he has earned the designation as an Andrew J. Rider Scholar every year, an award that only goes to the top 1% of students in each college based on GPA.
