Course requirements and prerequisites
Students are expected to meet all course requirements and prerequisites as noted in this publication. Full information on Rider University’s academic policies, procedures and programs may be found in the Undergraduate or Graduate Academic Catalogs.
J-Term undergraduate course load
Students may take up to three credits (one course) in J-Term. This policy is designed to support student success due to the intensive three-week format. Students with extenuating circumstances may request permission to overload from their academic dean's office. For consideration of an overload, a student must have earned at least 75 credits and maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average or higher. Decisions will be made by the student’s college/school associate/assistant dean. Students should consult with their academic advisor before requesting an overload.
Course schedules
Current Rider students MUST print their J-Term schedule by accessing their course information on line at myRider. Schedules will not be mailed. Newly enrolled students will receive a bill and a J-Term schedule prior to the beginning of the term.
Dropping and withdrawing from a J-Term course
All students enrolled in J-Term may drop and/or withdraw through the Registrar's Office following the J-Term drop and withdrawal dates listed below. All drops or withdrawals (student discretion only) must be initiated by the student.
Drop course | Tuesday, January 7, 2025 |
Withdrawal I student discretion |
Wednesday, January 8, 2025 - Monday, January 20, 2025 |
Withdrawal II psychological/physiological reasons |
Tuesday, January 21, 2025 - Thursday, January 23, 2025 |
Students are held responsible to officially drop or withdraw from a course. Students will not be automatically dropped or withdrawn if they stop attending class(es). Failure to officially drop or withdraw from a course by deadlines outlined in the J-Term calendar will result in a grade of “F.” Students who do not attend any class meetings and do not officially drop will receive a grade of “N” and will be held responsible for the full cost of the course tuition.
