A letter from Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Fredeen
Based on ongoing state and federal recommendations to reduce the spread of coronavirus, we are announcing today that all Summer I courses will move to remote and alternative instruction.
Doing so allows students to continue making progress toward reaching their academic goals while also helping Rider achieve its highest priority during the coronavirus outbreak: protecting the health and safety of our campus community.
As of right now, we are expecting Summer II to be offered through remote and alternative instruction and are preparing for that outcome as well. We are continually evaluating circumstances and the guidance of top public officials to inform our decision making, and we will share more information as it becomes available.
We recognize that these decisions represent another significant disruption caused by the coronavirus outbreak and that some students may have concerns, such as those related to lack of access to appropriate technology. We are prepared to support our students as we have supported them through the current period of remote and alternative instruction. For resources, please visit rider.edu/coronavirus or email [email protected]. Importantly, by limiting in-person contact, the extension of remote and alternative instruction is contributing to the state’s efforts to mitigate the rapid spread of coronavirus.
Offering summer courses through remote and alternative instruction also provides the opportunity for enriching experiences for individuals who are looking for either personal or professional development during a period of isolation.
Thank you for your continued patience and support. Rider is making every effort to respond thoughtfully to this public health emergency. I send my best wishes for the health and safety of you and your family.
Sincerely,
DonnaJean Fredeen, Ph.D.
