Letter from Dean Kutcher about extended spring break and remote and alternative instruction
Message was sent to Norm Brodsky College of Business students
Dear students:
By now, you’ve learned of the University’s plans for an extended spring break, followed by remote or alternative instructions for at least a couple weeks thereafter. Because the situation remains fluid and unpredictable, we’ll all be doing our best to plan for contingencies while taking things one day at a time. Thank you in advance for being patient and flexible, and for showing the grit and attitude for which Rider students are known.
All of us in the Norm Brodsky College of Business Dean’s Office will keep in touch with any information that we think will be most helpful. For now, here are some answers to questions that we’re fielding most frequently:
- The week of March 23 is truly meant to be a second week of spring break. Even if you are enrolled in online or late-start classes, there will not be work, tests or other expectations for that week. Classes will resume in remote/alternative format starting on March 30.
- Expect for each class to be managed in a way that makes the most sense for the instructor, the students, and the subject matter.
- Activities and events that are scheduled during the periods of remote/alternative instruction will also be canceled.
- Please note that the course registration schedule and undergraduate and graduate withdrawal dates have been updated on the registrar’s website, with more information available soon.
- Any students who are completing an internship, co-op, or other experiential arrangement should work with their site supervisors and faculty sponsors to determine how to appropriately proceed.
As is the case with all university offices, the Norm Brodsky College of Business Dean’s Office will be open during this break. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at 609-896-5170.
Of course, much more information will be available in the coming weeks; please watch your Rider email carefully. In the meantime, know that we are sensitive to the disruption and difficulty that comes at a time like this. In my opinion, helping Rider students navigate challenging situations is what our faculty and staff do best. Don’t hesitate to be in touch, and please — stay healthy and safe.
Sincerely,
Gene Kutcher
