The Westminster CoOPERAtive Program, Westminster Choir College’s three-week intensive opera training program opens on June 30 at Westminster Choir College of Rider University in Princeton. The public is invited to attend an array of free recitals, concerts and master classes featuring talented singers and accompanists from around the world who are taking the next step in their operatic careers.
The public events include operatic aria concerts, featuring participants performing arias from familiar and not-so-well-known operas on Wednesday, July 3, Friday, July 5, Wednesday, July 10, Friday, July 12, Wednesday, July 17 and Friday, July 19. All concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. in Bristol Chapel on the campus of Westminster Choir College in Princeton.
Students will also present intimate art song recitals on Saturday, July 6, which will focus on American Art Song; Saturday, July 13, which will focus on French mélodie; and on Thursday, July 18, an evening of German lieder. All recitals will begin at 7:30 p.m. in either Bristol Chapel or the Robert L. Annis Playhouse.
The CoOPERAtive Program brings to Princeton some of the most influential people in the operatic field today to serve on its faculty and hold master classes. Program participants will perform in master classes with Susan Ashbaker, director of Westminster Opera Theatre, artistic director of Tri-Cities Opera and artistic advisor to the CoOPERAtive Program on Sunday, June 30; David Paul, director of opera, theatre and film, on Monday, July 1; Kathleen Kelly, opera coach, conductor and master teacher, on Monday, July 8; and CoOPERAtive program director, Laura Brooks Rice on Monday, July 15. All master classes begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Robert L. Annis Playhouse and are free and open to the public.
CoOPERAtive alumna Anne Marie Stanley, mezzo soprano, and James Sparks, piano, present a recital on Thursday, July 11 at 7:30 p.m. in Bristol Chapel.
