Listen on the radio or on the web Monday, December 23 at 8 p.m. and Wednesday, December 25 at 4 p.m.
WWFM The Classical Network will broadcast Westminster Choir College’s 2013 An Evening of Readings and Carols on Monday, December 23 at 8 p.m. EST and Wednesday, December 25 at 4 p.m. EST.
Recorded at the December 13 performance in the Princeton University Chapel, the concert features four choirs from Westminster Choir College of Rider University; as well as the Princeton Girlchoir, organist Alan Morrison and the brass ensemble Solid Brass; performing traditional holiday music and some new works and arrangements for the season. The broadcast is hosted by Marjorie Herman and David Osenberg, and it includes interviews with conductors James Jordan, Kathleen Ebling Shaw, Tom T. Shelton and Amanda Quist joined by composer Dan Forrest, who arranged a new setting of The First Noel for the concert.
The performance includes works that have become hallmarks of this annual concert: the processional introit from James Whitbourn’s Missae Carolae, Steve Pilkington’s arrangement of I Wonder as I Wander, and the ringing of the season with the Westminster Concert Bell Choir surrounding the audience in the grandeur of the Princeton University Chapel. It also features some new works: Paul Mealor’s I Am the Gentle Light, John Rutter’s All Bells in Paradise, and Tom T. Shelton’s arrangement of I Saw Three Ships.
WWFM The Classical Network broadcasts on the radio throughout much of New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania. It can also be heard online worldwide at www.wwfm.org, where listeners can find more broadcast details.
Following the broadcasts, the program will be archived in the “Celebrating Our Musical Future” section on the WWFM website.
