Nicolás Crespo Martinez
From:Madrid, Spain (Nabrija University)
Major: Double major in marketing and advertising
This semester, the Center for International Education welcomed many new international students to Rider, one of which was Nicolás Crespo Martinez from Spain. He took the time to answer a few questions about his journey to the U.S. and Rider.
What made you choose to study at Rider?
When I was picking which school I wanted to come to I had so many options around the world. After figuring out everything with my schedule, those choices were narrowed down. From there, I researched and found that Rider would be the best fit for my major and me.
What are you most looking forward to about being in the U.S. and at Rider?
I have a good class schedule for this semester so I am looking forward to seeing what my courses will be like. I also really enjoy traveling and I hope while I am here I can visit many different places around this area, such as New York and Philadelphia. I also plan on staying in America after the semester is over in order to continue to travel throughout the summer to places like Mexico.
Are you planning on joining any clubs or sports while here?
I love basketball so I am hoping to be able to get involved with that and play for fun. People have told me that basketball is the popular sport here so I am also looking forward to attending some of the games. I would also like to see at least one MBA game.
What were your first impressions of Rider?
Everyone has been very nice and welcoming. One of the things that are different compared to my university in Nebrija is the size of Rider’s campus. My home university is broken into different locations depending on major so my campus is much smaller than Rider’s as a whole.
What do you miss most about your home?
So far I am not that homesick because it’s only been a short time since I arrived. I think that once more time passes I may miss certain things and of course I will miss my friends, family and dogs, but for now, I am very happy to be here.
