Defense trade expert Allan Suchinsky to appear at Rider on March 27
by Rachel Stengel '14
On March 27, the Rebovich Institute for New Jersey Politics at Rider University will host "Arms Transfers and Human Rights: An Evening with Allan Suchinsky." An introductory reception will be held at 6:30 p.m. in Sweigart Auditorium, room 115, with the presentation and Q&A following at 7 p.m.
Suchinsky will discuss the regulatory process for exporting U.S. arms, especially in light of human rights. He will also focus on his personal involvement with key U.S. export transactions, such as in Saudi Arabia.
"Allan is a leading authority in the field of defense trade issues," says Jim Castagnera, Rider's associate provost and acting director of the Rebovich Institute. "He has counseled some of the major defense contractors in the world — Boeing, Lockheed Martin and General Motors."
Suchinsky is the president of ITD Associates, an international trade consulting firm recognized as one of the leading authorities on the U.S. Government's export licensing requirements. He is also a senior advisor for Trade Compliance Group and a former State Department official. He has counseled private industry and the government for more than 45 years on the requirements and procedures of export licensing.
The Rebovich Institute for New Jersey Politics is dedicated to public service and scholarly analysis of government, public policy, campaigns and elections in New Jersey. Founded in 2001 by the late Professor David Rebovich (1949–2007), the Institute is a dynamic and creative home where students can network, study and gain practical experience in New Jersey politics.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information about the event, please contact Susan Cuccia at 609-896-5350 or [email protected].
