Performing Paul Dukas’ “Fanfare” from La Péri, Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme, and Borodin’s Symphony No. 2 in B Minor.

Westminster Community Orchestra, conducted by Ruth Ochs, will present “Russian Reflections” on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 8 p.m. in Princeton Presbyterian Church in Princeton, N.J.
The program will include Paul Dukas’ “Fanfare” from La Péri, Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme, and Borodin’s Symphony No. 2 in B Minor. Soloist will be cellist Tomasz Rzeczycki.
Celebrating its 26th season, the Westminster Community Orchestra presents concert that showcase the artistry, commitment and passion of a true community ensemble. Its popular programs are noted for their diverse repertoire and widespread appeal. Members are professional and gifted amateur musicians from New Jersey and Pennsylvania. They come from all walks of life but share a common goal: the desire to make wonderful music for themselves and their community.
In addition to conducting the Westminster Community Orchestra, Ruth Ochs is conductor of the Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra, the Princeton Charter School/Westminster Conservatory Youth Orchestra, and the Princeton University Sinfonia. She holds degrees in music and orchestral conducting from Harvard University and the University of Texas at Austin, and she is completing her doctorate in Musicology at Princeton University with a dissertation on 20th-century Polish music.
Tomasz Rzeczycki teaches cello at the Westminster Conservatory and Princeton Day School and performs frequently in the tri-state area. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Cello Performance from the Music Academy in Kraków, Poland, a Master of Music in Cello from Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, Va., and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Cello Performance from The University of Texas at Austin.
