by Kristine A. Brown
The Rebovich Institute for New Jersey Politics at Rider University will present “Leadership & Comedy: An Evening with Hon. Jon Bramnick,” New Jersey Assembly Republican leader, on Wednesday, March 5. A light reception begins at 6 p.m. Remarks begin at 7 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer period with the audience. The event will take place in the Mercer Room in Daly Dining Hall on Rider’s Lawrenceville campus and is free and open to the public.
“Assembly leader Bramnick continues our ongoing Governing New Jersey series,” explains Professor Ben Dworkin, director of the Rebovich Institute. “Not only is he a major player in Trenton, but he is the most recent recipient of the Rebovich Legislative Award, and a former professor at Rider. We are proud to welcome him ‘home’ for this event.”
Bramnick has served in the New Jersey General Assembly since 2003, representing the 21st legislative district. He has served as the Assembly Republican Leader since January 2012. He was appointed to the Assembly in 2003 to fill the unexpired term of the vacancy created upon the selection of Thomas Kean, Jr. to fill an unexpired New Jersey Senate term. He was elected to a full two-year term later that year and was re-elected in 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2011.
Bramnick also holds the title “Funniest Lawyer in New Jersey” after winning contests sponsored by the bar Association at Rascals Comedy Club. He often volunteers his service as a comedic auctioneer on behalf of non-profit organizations.
