The exercise poses no threat
As part of the University's ongoing emergency preparedness, Rider Public Safety, Lawrenceville SGA and the Lawrence Township Police Department will engage in a jointly planned active shooter training exercise on Tuesday, March 22, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in and around North Hall on the Lawrenceville campus. The exercise poses no threat.
North Hall will be closed for the duration of the exercise except for participants. In addition, the roadway between the Library and Kroner Hall will be closed to vehicular traffic during that time. Faculty and staff exiting Memorial Lot will be directed to make a left turn and proceed around the back of campus.
Please be aware that Lawrence Township Police will conduct their tactical active shooter response, which includes yelling out instructions, conducting searches in and around North Hall, and displaying rubber, non-operational simulated hand guns. Public Safety officers will also be very visible as part of the response and student volunteers, organized by SGA, will also be key participants.
Please also note that the University will conduct a test of RiderAlert as part of this drill. The University will utilize RiderAlert text messaging and phone calling but will clearly indicate that this is a test. If you do not receive a RiderAlert text or phone call during the exercise, please send an email to [email protected]. The University will also utilize the classroom PA phone system in North Hall.
North Hall will be closed for the duration of the exercise except for participants. In addition, the roadway between the Library and Kroner Hall will be closed to vehicular traffic during that time. The University is very appreciative to Lawrence Township Police and SGA for its partnership in this important test of Rider's emergency response. The University also appreciates the patience and cooperation of the campus community while the exercise is under way.
