Lawrenceville campus fire drills will be held Oct. 7

In conjunction with Rider University’s Emergency Operations Plan and to ensure that the campus community is prepared to evacuate offices and classrooms during a fire emergency, the Department of Public Safety will conduct fire evacuation drills throughout the Lawrenceville Campus on Wednesday, October 07, 2015.

The Department of Public Safety asks that all community members adjust their calendar or syllabus to ensure participation in the drills with the least amount of disruption to their schedule or classes. Supervisors and faculty should discuss with their staff and students an emergency evacuation plan and how to assist staff members or students who have special physical needs to evacuate the building. Everyone should know at least two ways out of their building and should review the exit routes from their offices and classrooms to their building’s assigned assembly point.

Upon hearing the fire alarm, all occupants of the building should stop whatever they are doing and proceed immediately to the nearest exit. Once outside, they should proceed to their building’s assigned assembly point where building marshals will check to ensure that everyone is out of the building. Building marshals, indicated below, will also assist with the evacuation of their floors/ buildings, ensuring that everyone exits safely.
