Films explore pollution, GMOs and extinction
Three films will be shown this semester as part of Rider’s Green Film Series, which is free and open to the public. Trashed, an award-winning documentary feature film with Jeremy Irons about the impact of global waste, will be shown Feb. 9 and 10. GMO OMG, an examination of the use of genetically modified organisms in the food system, will be shown on March 8 and 9. And Racing Extinction, in which a team of artists and activists expose the hidden world of extinction with never-before-seen images, will be shown April 12 and 13. “These films serve as a great way to introduce topics to students that could be used for academic work, as well as to raise awareness about environmental issues,” says Sustainability Manager Melissa Greenberg, who encourages faculty, staff and students to consider attending one or more of the films. All films start at 7 p.m. in Sweigart Auditorium (115) and will be followed by a brief discussion. The Green Film Series is presented by the Office of Sustainability. The full schedule with more information about the films can be found at www.rider.edu/greenfilmseries.
