As the leaves continue to fall, October brings many changes, but some things remain the same: Rider has a full schedule of on-campus events for students to enjoy.
Here are five October events at Rider that students should not miss.
Rider Musical Theatre: Bonnie & Clyde
With Rider students going on to Broadway and other stages around the world, this is your chance to see world-class talent before it hits the big time. The deadly lovers’ tale premieres on Wednesday, Oct. 11, at 7:30 p.m. in the Yvonne Theater and continues through Oct. 15. Don’t miss the electrifying story of Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow, who went from small-town nobodies to America’s most renowned folk heroes and law enforcement’s worst nightmare.
“An Afternoon with Hon. Kim Guadagno”
Kim Guadagno became New Jersey's first Lt. Governor in 2010. Now she's running as the Republican nominee to succeed Gov. Chris Christie. She'll visit Rider on Thursday, Oct. 12, at 4 p.m. in the Mercer Room as part of the ongoing Governing New Jersey event series hosted by the Rebovich Institute for New Jersey Politics. She'll field questions after her remarks, some come prepared to engage with one of the highest-ranking politicians in the state. Registration is strongly requested by visiting www.rider.edu/guadagno.
Midnight MAACness
Join your fellow Broncs for the unofficial start to the men’s and women’s basketball season. The annual event, which takes places on Friday, Oct. 13, in Alumni Gym, has a spooky twist this year, a Friday the 13th theme. But don't get spooked. This event features live entertainment, giveaways and plenty of spirit-filled activities.
Scream Screen 2
On Friday, Oct. 20, come out for Scream Screen 2, where a student-selected horror film (the title has not yet been revealed) will be displayed on a three-story-tall inflatable screen. The parking lot behind the Student Recreation Center will be filled with trunk-or-treaters handing out candy, LED Zombie Golf, food and more! Bring your car for the drive-in experience or grab a blanket to watch the frightful film. Activities start at 6 p.m. and the movie starts at 8 p.m.
Homecoming
For the first time since 2004, homecoming returns to Rider University! On Saturday, Oct. 28, start your homecoming experience with activities like a 5K color run/walk, flag football, kickball, volleyball, tennis or disc jam. After working up an appetite, choose from a variety of food trucks and enjoy a seasonal brew in the Beer Garden of Eatin’. And don’t miss the opportunity to catch a bird’s-eye view of the campus in a hot air balloon!
