Program recognized for excellence in leadership by HR.com
For the second year in a row, Rider University's Leadership Development Program was recognized for its excellence in leadership education at HR.com’s LEAD2017 conference. The program, part of the University's Center for the Development of Leadership Skills (CDLS), ranked fourth in the nation in the category of "Certificate Program With an Emphasis on Leadership/Organizational Development."
"It is truly an honor to once again be recognized as a program that provides a quality leadership education to college students," says Laura Seplaki, associate director of CDLS and director of the Leadership Development Program (LDP). "To be ranked so highly proves that the LDP is delivering on its promise to groom the next generation of leaders."
Seplaki submitted the LDP for consideration for the awards, given by HR.com and publicized on their website. Prior to the awards ceremony, she learned that the program had placed in the top 10. Just after the awards ceremony, she was excited to learn of the official fourth place ranking.
"The LDP believes that real leadership is derived from service to others," Laura Seplaki says. "This philosophy has brought us immense success, as it guides how we teach leadership, engage our student leaders, and determine the opportunities that will best prepare them for their personal and professional lives. The LDP has a strong membership of student leaders who value the education we are providing.”
For the past 34 years, the LEAD Awards, formerly known as Leadership Excellence Awards, have identified and recognized the top leadership programs and organizations and their strategies and solutions in their yearly ranking. This year's award winners have been published in the February edition of the Leadership Excellence Essentials e-publication.
LEAD2017 is a two-day leadership forum that was held this year on Feb. 7 and 8 in Nashville, Tenn., at the Music City Center. The event brings together top thought leaders and the world's best leadership practices that can be shared by attendees to develop leadership programs in their own organizations and communities.
In 2016, HR.com acquired the rankings from Leadership Excellence. With Leadership Excellence, the LDP always ranked within the top 25 programs. “HR.com narrowed down the field of winners to the top 10, so it makes this ranking even more significant and special,” says Seplaki.
The awards are given annually by HR.com, the largest global social networking and resource site for human resources professionals, and the LDP plans to be among the applicants for the LEAD2018 awards, not only for recognition purposes but also as a way to assure the LDP continues to develop and evolve its certificate program to higher levels.
