Important information about finances and enrollment included
Recently President Dell’Omo provided the University community with an update that included information on the current financial and enrollment situation facing Rider. Not unlike many institutions of higher education, Rider is facing continued deficits and enrollment challenges that must be addressed to stabilize and grow the university.
President Dell’Omo outlined many strategies currently in place to address the immediacy of the financial challenges including enrollment strategies, fundraising and retention initiatives, as well as budget reductions, just to name a few.
One option also includes a comprehensive study of a one-campus model. It is imperative to understand this is only a study at this time, and no final decisions have been made as to the outcome of this study. Its goal is to determine whether the movement of Westminster’s academic programs to Lawrenceville could result in a more robust, renowned and comprehensive Westminster College of the Arts.
This study, directed and led by the University’s Board of Trustees and staffed by the University’s senior leadership, entails a full and thorough analysis of the varied and highly complex elements associated with a one-campus model, which, in fact, has been studied several times in the University’s history.
The results of this study will be presented to the Board of Trustees in the spring of 2017 for deliberation and consideration. As the University moves forward with this important work, Rider will continue to keep its community informed of the progress it is making.
