Westminster Choir College of Rider University welcomes visiting artist pianist Alejandro Cremaschi, who will present a recital on Friday, September 23 at 8 p.m. and master class on Saturday, September 24 at 3 p.m. Admission to both events is free.
The recital, which will be presented in Bristol Chapel, is titled “Mostly Argentina, Mostly Ginastera.” It includes four works by Alberto Ginastera, including his Doce Preludios Americanos and Suite de danzas criollas, as well as works by Astor Piazzolla and Ernesto Nazareth. The master class will be presented in Williamson Hall. Participants will be students Richmond Denzel Garrick, John Franek and Gonzalo Aguilar.
Born in Argentina, Alejandro Cremaschi is in demand as a performer and clinician specializing in Latin American repertoire. The Washington Post has described his performances as "Pristine piano technique...passionate." He received a master’s degree and doctorate from the University of Minnesota. He earned undergraduate degrees from the University of Maryland Baltimore County, and the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo, Mendoza, Argentina. He was a prize winner at the International Beethoven Sonata Piano Competition in Memphis, Tenn., and he has been a presenter at numerous national and international conferences. His articles have been published in the Research Studies in Music Education Journal, Journal of Music, Technology and Education, Clavier Companion and the MTNA e-journal among others. He has recorded as a soloist and as a member of Trio Cordilleras for the labels IRCO, Ostinato, Marco Polo and Meridian Records. His new edition and recording of Ginastera’s Doce Preludios Americanos Op. 12 for piano will be published by Carl Fischer Publishing in 2016. He teaches piano and piano pedagogy at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
