Several of the events that will affect the Lawrenceville campus
Rider is serving once again as host for American Legion Jersey Boys State from Sunday, June 19, through Friday, June 24, on the Lawrenceville campus. The University is expecting approximately 950 delegates and 150 staff for this 71st session of Boys State.
Several of the events that will affect the Lawrenceville campus this week.
- Daily retreat ceremonies will take place on the campus mall surrounding the flag at approximately 5:30 p.m. The campus mall will be temporarily closed as the delegates assemble.
- On Wednesday, June 22, a bomb unit will be parked outside the BLC for a bomb squad seminar in the BLC Theater from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
- On Thursday, June 23, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., a NJ State Police Medivac will land on the Daly’s Intramural Fields.
- Also on Thursday, a State Police helicopter will fly over the campus mall at 5:35 p.m.
- On Friday, June 24, the Family Day picnic will take place on the campus mall from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. followed immediately by a graduation ceremony in Alumni Gym. A State Police demonstration will take place from 12:30 to 1 p.m. as part of that event on Daly’s intramural field near the south entrance of campus. The demonstration will involve a helicopter, K9 units, SWAT team armed with semiautomatic firearms and potential noise devices that will be thrown. The main gates, Van Cleve gate and Campus Mall roadways will be closed at 9 a.m. and will reopen at 6 p.m. on Friday to accommodate these events and the move-out of delegates and staff.
Rider appreciates the support of its campus community as it accommodates the needs of this annual program.
