Important information regarding quarantine requirements for spring 2021
Dear students,
In accordance with New Jersey state travel advisory guidelines, if you are traveling from outside of NJ, NY, CT, PA and DE, you are required to complete a 10-day quarantine when you arrive to New Jersey. It’s important to note that this list is updated regularly and can change at any time. Students who are entering New Jersey from states that get added to this list at a later time will still be required to quarantine. Students are expected to continue to review the states included in the travel advisory, make plans accordingly and commit to not interacting with others on campus until quarantining conditions have been met.
All students must adhere to quarantine guidelines, as a part of the COVID-19 Shared Responsibility Pledge each student must agree to prior to coming to campus.
Students in travel-related quarantine should remain in their place of residence, and leave only to seek medical care/treatment or to obtain food and other essential items. They should not have visitors or otherwise interact with others during the quarantine period.
Students who plan to live off-campus spring 2021 who originate from one of these locations will be expected to quarantine in their personal off-campus living arrangements before interacting with others on campus.
Students who plan to live on-campus spring 2021 who originate from one of these locations have two choices to fulfill their quarantine:
- Students may choose to quarantine in New Jersey at an appropriate place of your choosing (e.g. a hotel or private residence) for the duration of the quarantine period if their accommodations permit them to adhere to the quarantine conditions. Students cannot split their quarantine period between off-campus and on-campus to promote full adherence to the intent of quarantine guidance.
- Students who plan to live on-campus spring 2021 who do not have arrangements in the state to appropriately quarantine will be accommodated on campus. Quarantine housing will be available for dates beginning Thursday, January 21 or Friday, January 22. Students will be required to quarantine immediately upon arrival and will be tested on Wednesday, January 27. Those with negative test results and who are asymptomatic can end their quarantine on January 30. Students will not be charged for the additional time of quarantine housing, but all students will be automatically billed a meal plan rate of $150 for your early arrival period.
Students requiring travel-related quarantine on campus can reserve an arrival time and accommodations on campus through myRider portal and selecting “Schedule your Move-in/Move-out.” All students should reserve a residential arrival appointment through myRider portal beginning January 5.

We understand that the designated quarantine period is inconvenient, but it is one additional essential step to adhering to state guidance for returning to campus, and promoting a safe and healthy community. We appreciate your compliance with this mandate.
Additional information will be shared from Residence Life closer to your arrival date.
