The number of internships held by Lauren in her time at Rider
The number of leadership positions Lauren took on as an undergraduate student in student-led organizations
Lauren fell in love with Rider as soon as she stepped on campus. “Rider’s small campus and approach to education made them my number one choice.” What she loved most about her time at Rider was that every professor knew her name and knew who she was as a person because that was incredibly important to her when choosing a program to study. “The university offered so many different opportunities to fully immerse myself in the Rider community.” Rider’s psychology department also offered her many internship opportunities as well as specialized psychology courses so Lauren could focus her studies on the topics that interested her the most.
Rider has introduced me to supportive and knowledgeable professors who challenged me to be my best self.
As an undergraduate student, Lauren worked as an office assistant for the Office of Residence Life while taking classes and obtaining three internships with the Jackson School District in their guidance department and child study team. These internships continued into her graduate student years. As a graduate student at Rider, Lauren worked as a research assistant as well as a graduate assistant for the Campaign Operations and Advancement Services Department. Her experiences in and out of the classroom provided Lauren with the necessary skill set to be a successful school psychologist. “Rider introduced me to supportive and knowledgeable professors who challenged me to be my best self,” says Lauren. She discovered her passion and plans to “be a supportive, guiding force for many on their journeys. Rider has helped me discover this and I'm forever grateful.”
Lauren’s experiences and opportunities at Rider led her to a full-time career as a successful nationally certified school psychologist with the Freehold Regional High School District. In this role, she serves as a case manager for children with disabilities, and ensures that they receive the appropriate and necessary support to thrive. Lauren facilitates individual counseling that enables students to develop coping skills to help with anxiety, depression, anger management, crisis counseling and pandemic-related issues. “We are also responsible for creating a safe, positive school environment while strengthening family-school partners. I decided to be a school psychologist because I want to be an advocate for children.”
