For the Milestone Scholars program.
Anthony and his team raised $2,400 and endowed a Rider scholarship through the basket ball fundraiser.
Why Anthony chose Rider
The small-campus atmosphere of Rider University with its 10 to 1 student/teacher ratio and the close-to-home location proved particularly attractive to Anthony when choosing a university to pursue his degree. Anthony was looking for a school where he would be heard in class, and have the opportunity to build relationships with professors, ultimately making the transition from his high school more comfortable.
I have made life long friends and created bonds with professors and faculty along the way that have shaped me into a better worker, student and overall person.”
Rider’s impact on Anthony’s Career
As a proactive member of the Rider community, Anthony held several positions within the University while studying for his undergraduate degree. After landing a job as a Producer Intern with the University radio station, 107.7 The Bronc, he quickly rose through the ranks, getting promoted to Sports Director after just one month. In his senior year Anthony changed roles and became the Chief Student Engineer, where he was responsible for training students on the software, making sure all technology was in compliance with the FCC and assisting contractors with any issues or projects that came their way.
According to John Mozes, general manager of 107.7 The Bronc, "Rider's new broadcast studios provided students like Anthony with the ultimate engaged-learning opportunity, and the chance to work side-by-side and learn from top-notch radio broadcast experts to not only demonstrate their talents for future employment, but have a hand in building this state of the art facility."
Over Anthony’s four years at Rider, he learned that having a work life balance was crucial. He was able to work hard and keep up with his responsibilities, while also making time to enjoy the benefits of being a college student outside of the classroom. His dedication was rewarded when he received a scholarship from the Staniman family and other varying opportunities to further his career. Anthony made life-long bonds with faculty, staff and students. His work with 107.7 The Bronc gave him the opportunity to grow his network and eventually helped him secure full-time employment in the field after graduation. Anthony recognizes the impact the Rider community has had on his life, both professionally and personally, “Rider will always have a special place in my heart.”
Continued success
Anthony played a critical role in the summer of 2020 during the radio station's transition from Rider’s Bart Luedeke Center to the Fine Arts Building across campus. It was during this move he was able to work alongside professionals at Public Media Engineering where he was able to learn more about what they do, and led to him being hired as a System Engineer Apprentice upon his graduation from the University. In his role, Anthony worked with east coast operations and clientele, including Spanish Broadcast Systems, WSNW radio, and of course 107.7 The Bronc.
"Public Media Engineering enjoyed the opportunity to work directly with Anthony Collesano and other Rider students during 107.7 The Bronc's new studio build," says Peter Femal, President of Public Media Engineering. "It afforded us the ability to mentor and evaluate the unbelievable student talent at WRRC and eventually offer an employment opportunity to Anthony who has quickly become an integral part of the PME team.”
Since then, Anthony continued his career growth as a Business Development Assistant for regional law firm Norris McLaughlin where he manages email campaigns, coordinates sponsorships and webinars, and leverages his radio acumen to produce a podcast series that covers the latest legal issues.
