About the Conducting Intensive
Conducting Intensive, taught by James Jordan, conductor of The Westminster Choir, will be an intensive week filled with thought-provoking ideas about breath, gesture and body architecture. The pedagogical framework of the course revolves around not only a deep understanding of listening and responding, but mastering Laban Effort Shape to develop a deeper connection of the conductor's physical relationship to sound. This is an opportunity to study with the world's leading pedagogue in conducting pedagogy and author of more than 70 books used around the world for the education of conductors. Conductors attending the class must come to campus with three publications, all available through GIA or in some cases, Amazon: The Musician’s Soul, Evoking Sound (Second Edition Only) and Conducting Technique Etudes, all authored by James Jordan.
