Obtaining Certification in Other States
New Jersey is a member of National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification (NASDTEC), the professional membership organization representing state departments of education that are responsible for the preparation, licensure, and discipline of K-12 educational personnel.
Below is a list of State Departments of Education with which New Jersey has "full-reciprocity" for teacher, administrative and support professional certification/licensure and do not have any additional requirements for educators who are seeking certification in another state:
Other State Departments of Education in the NASDTEC may choose to have additional requirements for educators seeking certification in their state. The link below provides the contact information for each State Department of Education. Please contact the department of education in the state where you would like to obtain certification in order to understand the requirements for educators. Note: Each state is responsible for its certification/licensure requirements which may change without notice to NASDTEC, Rider University or the NJ Department of Education. All prospective licensure candidates with questions regarding reciprocity should be submitted to each state's department of education.
