Sept. 11, 2022
The Rider University Administration and the Rider University Chapter of AAUP have reached a tentative agreement on a five-year contract for its bargaining unit members, subject to ratification by the AAUP membership and the Rider University Board of Trustees.

Sept. 9, 2022
The parties had productive conversations today and have agreed to continue negotiations on Sunday, Sept. 11.
Sept. 2, 2022
The parties have agreed to meet next on Friday, Sept. 9, and extend the labor agreement through Friday, Sept. 9, 2022, at 11:59 p.m.

Sept. 1, 2022
The administration has pushed from the beginning of negotiations to achieve an agreement by Aug. 31. However, an agreement was not achieved by midnight. Therefore, the administration and AAUP have mutually agreed to a two-day extension of the current contract to expire at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 2, 2022.

Aug. 26, 2022
The parties have reached a consensus on many non-economic issues related to the collective bargaining agreement. Although the union leadership has indicated its willingness to extend the contract beyond the deadline of Aug. 31, the administration’s goal remains to reach an agreement by that date.

Aug. 11, 2022
The Rider University Collective Bargaining Team completed two back-to-back days of negotiations with the AAUP discussing significant governance and non-economic issues.

Aug. 2, 2022
The AAUP leadership will meet for its seventh negotiation session on Aug. 3. Discussions about the governance language in our contract and the University’s health care proposal are expected to continue.

July 21, 2022
In the fifth bargaining session, the University administration presented one of its major proposals regarding shared governance and the creation of a Faculty Senate. Further discussions will continue about the creation of a Faculty Senate and other major issues including the critical need to reduce costs to better position Rider and improve its financial stability.

July 7, 2022
The administration and AAUP leadership have now held three bargaining sessions to negotiate a new collective bargaining agreement. Long before negotiations began, the University made clear its intention to have a new agreement in place by September 1, 2022. Negotiations are moving forward, albeit at a slower pace than the administration prefers.

June 22, 2022
The parties met for the first time and began a robust discussion. The University is focused on two main priorities: (1) Reducing costs to better position Rider and improve its financial sustainability, and (2) Having the proper level of control over important management functions, while working within a consultative shared governance environment.
May 22, 2022
The parties exchanged initial proposals. The University’s initial proposals can be found here (PDF). The first negotiation session is scheduled for June 22, 2022.
